The Values of Building Bridges
Pediatric Therapy Services

  • Building a child’s sense of capability and confidence

We are about building individual skills alongside building up how a child feels about themselves. It is easy for kids to feel defeated when they struggle to meet the standards at home or school. Our most important work is giving them the opportunity to try new things and feel more confident – even when something feels challenging.

  • Unparalleled Focus on Children and Families

Our team is genuinely here to serve the children of our community. Most therapy clinics will say this same thing, but at Building Bridges, this value drives our everyday work. Each session is about meeting the individual needs of the child right in front of us.

  • Importance of Community

When you enter our clinics, you instantly join our strong community. This is a community where we share resources and encouragement so no one feels the weight of figuring everything out alone.

The Story of Building Bridges
Pediatric Therapy Services

Everything started with founder and occupational therapist, Dorri Gowe-Lambert.

As an active community member and observant occupational therapist, Dorri hated how difficult it was for families in the community to find therapy services for kids. With no local options, families were driving to weekly therapy appointments across the Bay Bridge. In reality, the amount of drive time meant many families did not get needed therapy services at all.

In 2015, after several years of preparation, Dorri made the leap and opened her first pediatric clinic in Easton, Maryland. This quickly confirmed what she had been observing for years – there was a huge need for pediatric therapy throughout the Delmarva Peninsula.

Word spread quickly about the therapy services at Building Bridges. It was not long and families were traveling to Easton from places like Ocean City. That is still a long drive!

Again, Dorri thought about the value of improving access and reducing the stress of drive time for families. So in 2017, a second location was opened in Salisbury, MD to provide options for families living in Delaware and the Southern tip of Virginia.

Now, each clinic features both sensory gyms and private rooms to provide occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy.

What was true in the beginning remains the same through expanding locations and staff, Building Bridges exists to provide high-quality care to everyone who walks through our doors.
